ISO 45001 Transition Period

ISO 45001 Transition Period details are described here. The Earlier Standard BS OHSAS 18001:2007 will not valid after February 2021. So the Existing OHSAS 18001 certified certificate should be upgraded to the new ISO 45001 during the interim time period of 3 years. The New ISO 45001:2018 standard has been published as the first edition on 12.03.2018. The transition period is 3 years means the existing old BS OHSAS 18001 standard will no more valid after 12.03.2021.

E.g.-Let your organization has audited on 1.10.2018 as per OHSAS 18001 and you are recommended for the certificate, but your certificate will not valid up to 1.10.2021, so here certificate will be valid up to 12.03.2021. and if you would like to continue your certification then you have to do the re-certification audit before the due date with the new ISO 45001 standard requirements.

Overview of New Standard ISO 45001:2018 Main Clauses:

There was one main clause on OHSAS 18001 which is 4-OH&S Management System Requirements. But in new ISO 45001 standard contain seven numbers of main clauses i.e clause -4 to clause-10.

Clause-4: Context of the organization.

Clause-5: Leadership and worker participation.

Clause-6: Planning.

Clause-7: Support.

Clause-8: Operation.

Clause-9: Performance Evaluation.

Clause-10: Improvement.

Now all the main clauses from 4 to 10 in QMS standard (ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949:2016), and ISO 14001:2015 have the same content name as above. So to make the integrated system clubbing with QMS, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 will be easier now.

Some Important Documented Information that you can do as a single document i.e. Risk Logbook, Where you can identify the Risk related to QMS, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 into a single window.
